Was a Reconnaissance and Raiding unit of British Army during WWII. Formed specifically to carry out deep penetration and Intelligence missions behind Italian lines. Known by the Italian Nickname: “ Pattuglia Fantasma” or, “Ghost Patrol” the name the LRDG called Themselves was “ The Libyan Desert Taxi Service” as they were experts in desert navigation often assigned to guide other units including the S.A.S. (Special Air Service) Commandos And Secret Agents across Hostile Desert.
Between December, 1940 and April 1943 the vehicles of the LRDG operated constantly behind enemy lines only missing a total of 15 days during that entire period..
